This medication is an antihypertensive medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) associated with high cholesterol. It also reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks.
Indication:
This medcation can be taken at any time of the day with or without food. However, it is most effective when taken at the same time every day. Keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. Even if you are feeling fine, do not stop taking this medicine because high blood pressure usually does not have any symptoms. Stopping this medicine may make your condition worse. You can also keep your blood pressure in check by exercising regularly, losing weight, and following a healthy diet. Follow your doctor’s instructions while taking this medication.
Side Effects:
May cause headaches, nausea, stomach discomfort, flushing (feeling warm in the cheeks, ears, neck, and trunk), swelling in the ankle, and elevated liver enzymes. Tell your doctor if you notice discoloration of the skin or eyes, dark urine, or abdominal pain, as it may be a symptom of liver damage.
Dizziness may occur, so avoid driving or doing anything that requires mental concentration until you know how it affects you.
You may be required to have regular monitoring of your blood pressure, renal function, blood sugar, and electrolytes levels during treatment.
